Dr. Clements has posted some comments about post-hoc tests in a comment to a previous question on the blog. Please refer to the "2 more questions..." post and see Dr. Clement's comments there.
Also, on the slides and in the book, it gives you some info about which post-hoc is most appropriate for which cases. It depends on whether assumptions have been violated, the N size, etc.
If after looking over that, if you have a specific question about a particular post-hoc or the difference between two, please let us know!
