Non-significant result in final project
For the final project, I wonder if it is acceptable when I can't establish a significant result based on my original proposal? This is after I have performed the necessary assumption checks and any transformation of data necessary. Thanks.

Simple Answer: no
Long Answer: Just as you would not assume this if you were the researcher and this were your original data, you are not assuming that your results will come out significant before you run the analyses. However, remember part of the assignment is to have a hypothesis that at least makes sense (to check if it makes sense, email your hypothesis Dr. Clements). Otherwise, the result does NOT have to be significant, but must include the proper write up for results that are not significant.

The text (long answer) of Grace's response is correct, but the short answer is not. That is, YES, it is acceptable that the hypothesis not come out significant. There is no requirement for the assignment that the analysis be significant. Please do NOT revise your hypothesis or go fishing for an analysis that comes out significant.
