Alright, so who wants to lay it all on the line and lay out the advantages/disadvantages/assumptions/when to use a RM ANOVA, a factorial RM ANOVA, and a MD ANOVA?

The selection of design depends on the data you have.
If you have within subjects data (data collected over time or collected from nonindependent sources), you must model that dependency. Whether you choose a RM, factorial but fully related RM, or a Mixed Design depends on how many RM factors you have (just one, then just RM) and how many between subjects/Randomized Group factors you have (if any, must be a Mixed Design).
