Anova homework
For the second analysis, after we've completed the recoding, when we actually run the analysis, do we click over the new (recoded) variables (with little rulers next to the them, or the old ones which have the 3 colored circles next to them?? Or have I even done this correctly??

When you run your analysis you should use the variables you recoded.
That is enough to get the homework done. A note on SPSS and icons:
The little icon next to your variable's name (ruler or circles or something else) indicates what type of variable it is. However, SPSS does not have a brain so it wont attach the correct icon to the new variable for you. If you want the variable to have the appropriate icon, click on "variable view" at the bottom of the screen and then select the appropriate icon for your new variable.

If you didn't click over the new variable, SPSS would not use the new variable...and thus there would have been no reason to create it.
