reporting descriptives

So I know we should report descriptives that represent the actual model that we tested in ANOVA (ie. a table of descriptives for each of the 4 cells).

To clarify, does this mean that we don't list descriptives in our write-up when we say something like: "group 1 had higher scores than group 2," even though the descriptives used to validate this statement are not directly found in the table?

Do we assume the reader can calculate the total group means from the table?
