Final project write up
Will we get marked down if we have an explanation of our analysis ( where we also explain any minor violations to our assumptions) seperate than our "Results" section?

also, is it okay if our output contains analyses that does not pertain to our results ( i.e. preliminary analyses)

Preliminary analyses are fine.
You don't need to write any sort of Discussion or explanation of findings.
If you did something unusual or something I would have a question about in the analyses, then please do explain that somewhere in the document. It would likely make sense outside of the Results section itself, but I'd need to know the specifics to be sure of that.
